We Are Song Ranch.

Breaking
Songs...Not
Songwriters.

Who We Are

Formed in 2017, Song Ranch is a progressive music publishing company that seeks to bridge the gap between the publisher and the songwriter. Like most businesses, the business of music publishing and songwriting continues to evolve, and Song Ranch presents a new way of conducting business designed to forecast and accommodate these inevitable changes. We hold that the songwriter should have the freedom to write from the heart and the encouragement to reach their full potential.

With this in mind, Song Ranch values art over profit. We value freedom, diversity and creativity. Our diverse collection of songwriters are talented, high-character individuals that bring their own unique writing styles. We seek to break songs...not songwriters.

Austin Moody

Austin Moody is perhaps Nashville’s best kept secret. A prolific professional singer/songwriter, Moody is bringing a writing and performing style that is reminiscent of a more traditional, authentic brand of country music. As a true farm kid from the hills of East Tennessee, Moody cites legends Don Williams and Alan Jackson as his most prominent musical influences. At the early age of 14, Austin penned his first song and took to the road touring the Tri-City region with a well-seasoned bluegrass and gospel band. Fast forward a decade later, and Moody’s much anticipated debut record is in the final stages of completion and is being produced by Grammy-award winning producer and songwriter, Keith Stegall, whose production credits include Alan Jackson, George Jones, and Zac Brown Band.

The Power (and Danger) of Quick Changes Within Songs

There’s a concept in music that applies to chord progressions called harmonic rhythm. That term is used to describe how frequently (i.e., how quickly) chords change, especially in relation to how many notes of melody happen between changes. As you know, some songs use progressions where each chord is strummed for a relatively long time before changing to the next one: a slow harmonic rhythm. (Source: secretsofsongwriting.com)

I just don't see myself as a songwriter or a country singer or any of those things anymore. It's more trying to express ideas and emotional textures.
